BASSLINE THEORY

Bass Reflex was invented and adopted into the speaker production industry back in 1936. This was done to better capture the sound that is created off the back of the bass driver mounted in the cabinet. Before Bass Reflex was created, all speaker cabinets were sealed units that only used the sound from the front of the bass driver. To imagine how this affected the overall quality of the sound, put a cover over the hole in an acoustic guitar thereby only allowing the sound from the strings to be heard. Removing this ‘cover’ over the hole or port allows the cabinet acoustics to be added to the string sound.
BassLine SpeakerPanels are an alternative solution to the acoustic problems the industry tries to overcome…The result is twice as much sound, and a more realistic sound with full body acoustics.
The concept behind BassLine is to treat the speaker cabinet as an acoustical instrument instead of just a soapbox with speakers mounted to it. BassLine will allow you to capture the sound created off the back of the bass driver.
When the industry started to port speaker cabinets they found the sound emulating from the ports was larger but distorted. This was due to standing wave distortion caused by sound waves in the cabinet canceling each other out.
The solution they came up with was to dampen or muffle out the low frequency distortion by applying an insulation to the inside walls of the cabinet.
The most common material used is Fiber Glass, Foam or Dacron. All of these absorb too much of the sound and result in a muffled bass emulating from the ports or ducts.
BassLine SpeakerPanels are an alternative solution to these acoustic problems the industry tries to overcome; retaining all of the positive affects and overcoming most of the negative. BassLine will absorb enough of the sound to eliminate standing wave distortion but yet allows a larger portion of theĀ sound to escape through the ports without the distortion factor caused by using other insulation products.
Your speakers will sound cleaner, with more sound emulating from your bass ports – Bigger Cleaner BASS… Without Distortion! You will be surprised at the difference it makes in your speakers when you hear it for yourself!
Inventor’s StatementCarl Billington, Inventor
Carl discovered this process while experimenting with Bass Reflex speaker production. From a very young age he had a desire to come up with an alternative insulation product that would help him perfect the acoustic performance and cleanliness of his custom built speakers. Carls’ persistence and creative desire allowed him to invent the BassLine product and insulation process.
